How the calculation works
Gas cost = fuel used x fuel price. EV cost = distance x kWh per 100 distance / 100 x electricity price.
Understanding the result
A positive savings result means the EV costs less for energy under the assumptions entered. It is not a complete ownership-cost comparison.

Is an EV always cheaper to run?
Not always. Local rates, efficiency, annual distance, charging mix, and weather all influence the result.
Does this include public charging?
Only if the electricity price entered reflects the blended rate you expect to pay. Public fast charging can cost more than home charging.
Are incentives included?
No. Purchase incentives, taxes, maintenance, insurance, depreciation, and financing are excluded.
What electricity price should I use?
Use your all-in price per kWh where possible, or a weighted average if you expect to combine home and public charging.
